Julia Barnes from Narre Warren TOWN Club
In 2017 at a pivotal moment in Julia’s life, she discovered TOWN. This community, more than just a group, became her sanctuary and strength. She found not only support but also a renewed sense of purpose. As she began her journey with TOWN, she was weighed down, both physically and emotionally. TOWN became the bedrock of her transformation. Every step of her journey was intertwined with the stories, struggles and successes of her TOWN family. The unwavering support, combined with shared experiences became a guiding light. The groups encouragement was instrumental. Julia’s weight peaked at 184kg, a number that was hard to confront but impossible to ignore.
Julia was honoured with the title of Queen of the year in 2021-2022 and Runner Up queen of the year in 2022-23. Julia has also received a 50 kilo award and a75 kilo award. Julia has lost over 100 kilos now and the benefits of this weight loss were manifold – increased energy, better mobility, a renewed sense of self worth, and the joy of rediscovering a world without constant physical pain. These accolades while deeply gratifying, were secondary to the sheer joy of the journey and the camaraderie she shared with her TOWN family.
As Julia inches closer to her goal of 70kg she eagerly awaits the next chapter. Today as she reflects on her journey since 2017 she is filled with gratitude, gratitude for TOWN for the lessons learned, and for the unbreakable spirit that has carried her through.
Julia’s story is not just about weight loss – it is about transformation, community and the belief that with the right support, any challenge can be surmounted.
